Shawn Carter Foundation

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK (xxlmag.com) - Jay Z continues doing the good work. Billboard reported his Shawn Carter Foundation—a charitable organization he founded alongside his mother, Gloria Carter years ago—is partnering with eBay for Charity to help “underprivileged youths” fund their college tuition.

For their part, eBay for Charity’s just started a 10-day charity auction where the belongings of celebrities like Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas and “unique” experiences like VIP passes to this year’s Made in America Festival and the chance to have a VIP party at Jay Z’s New York City 40/40 club will be up for grabs. Apparently, 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Shawn Carter Foundation’s educational programs and scholarship fund.

The Shawn Carter Foundation has raised $4 million for underprivileged youths since 2003, and according to Jay Z’s mom, they won’t be slowing up anytime soon.

“Our goal is to touch as many people as we possibly can,” Carter told Billboard about the foundation’s decision to team-up with eBay for Charity. “There are so many young people—a lot of whom are first-generation students—that have the desire to attend college but don’t have the funds. My mother and father taught us to pay it forward and give to the community. That was my inspiration for the foundation. It makes me feel so blessed to be put in a situation where I can help the next generation.”

Other opportunities made available by the special auction include the chance to meet the New York Yankees’ CC Sabathia or the Seattle Mariners’ Robinson Cano. Sounds legit.

The Shawn Carter Foundation and eBay for Charity campaign is all set to continue until May 24 at 1 p.m. EST. Get into the action here.
