Partners in Progress in Haiti
INDIANA, PENNSYLVANIA (Indiana Gazette) - The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks have announced a benefit project for disadvantaged children in Fondwa, Haiti.
The Hawks will be working with Partners in Progress in Haiti, a nonprofit organization led by Dr. Rich Gosser. The campus community will work with the organization to collect gently worn and new shoes for children in the impoverished country. The Hawks will look to Partners in Progress for guidance and support to ensure a successful project during the upcoming academic year.
This charity was chosen due to the extreme hardships children in Haiti endure. They must walk miles upon miles in rough terrain to attend school. If they do not have shoes, this walk is nearly impossible, thus preventing them from receiving an education.
In order for this project to be successful, the Crimson Hawks need your help. The goal of ``Shoes for Children'' is to help ensure the children of Haiti have the opportunity to receive an education. In addition to collecting shoes, Crimson Hawk students will also be collecting monetary donations to cover the shipping costs associated with sending the shoes overseas. Shoes of any size and type, or monetary donations, can be made at participating Indiana County businesses, schools and churches.
