Endangered whales and other sea mammals off the coast of California are under threat -- enormous, mile-long nets are left to drift in the ocean by night, where they catch whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and many fish species. And these nets are about to get a rubber stamp from the feds to continue their cruel and tragically wasteful practice: The National Marine Fisheries Service wants to allow deaths and injuries to numerous endangered whales for the next three years.
These unnecessary deaths have gone on too long. Act now to break the decades-long cycle of killing whales, dolphins and numerous nontarget fish.
Demand that the Service refuse the permit and close this fishery -- to save sea life and secure the future of California's ocean.
